Because strength after 40 isn’t optional

— it’s essential.

After 40, we can lose up to 8% of our muscle every decade, and our bone density starts dropping too — especially through peri- and menopause.
But the good news? You can absolutely turn that around with strength training.

MetaStrong is built for women 40+. It’s led by an experienced strength coach, in a space where you’ll feel confident, capable and genuinely supported.
We love CrossFit and Hyrox — but this programme is something different. It’s designed for real women who want to build strength safely, at their own pace, without the intensity of a competitive fitness class.

No mirrors. No egos. No quick fixes.

Just safe, smart, scalable strength training that meets you exactly where you’re at — and helps you get stronger than you’ve ever been

Who's It For?

Is MetaSrong for you?

If you can say “yes” to any of these, you belong here 👇

  • You are over 40 -You’re in peri-menopause, menopause or post-menopause
  • You’ve never lifted before but want to start safely
  • You want to feel stronger, not smaller
  • You’re tired of “quick fixes”
  • You’d love a supportive, women-only environment

MetaStrong FAQs

  • I’ve never lifted weights before. Is this for beginners?

Yes — the programme is designed so you can start from zero. Everything is coached and scaled.

  • Who will I be coached by? Male/Female?

You’ll be coached personally by Geraldine Douglas – who has studied effects of Menopaus & strength training for Women over 40. She is experienced, relatable, supportive, and has probably gone through the same symptoms as what you are experience right now.

  • I’m in peri/menopause and feel tired all the time — can I still start?

Yes — strength training helps energy, sleep, bone density, metabolism and mood regulation.

  • I’m worried about my knees / joints.

This is NOT a high-impact workout. We build strength through smart, controlled movement — no jumping, no burpees.

  • I’m not fit. Do I need to “get fitter first” before coming?

No. You get stronger by starting, not by waiting. Every woman in the room starts at her own level.

  • Why women-only?

Because women in midlife deserve a space designed for them — not shared with 25-year-old lads doing max reps.

  • How big are the classes?

Because this is small-group coaching,  we have limited availability - not a drop-in class. Quality > quantity.

  • Is this CrossFit or Hyrox?

It’s coached strength training inside CrossFit Metatron — but not CrossFit classes.. Not Hyrox either No intensity, no competition, no gymnastics.

  • Can I upgrade to full CrossFit later?

Yes — MetaStrong members can upgrade if they wish to. MetaStrong is designed to go at your pace, not the other way around

  • Are three classes per week enough to see results?

Yes - A systematic review found that for post-menopausal women, resistance training at moderate intensity three times per week produced significantly better increases in bone mineral density at the lumbar spine and femoral neck.

  • Will this help prevent brittle bones in the future?

Absolutely. Strength training is one of the best ways to protect bone health after 40. Women who lift weights 2–3 times a week can increase bone density by up to 3% per year, while those who don’t can lose 1–2% annually.

That’s the difference between staying strong and independent — or becoming prone to fractures later in life.

  • Can women over 40 still build muscle and strength?

100%. Studies show women aged 40–65 who strength train 2–3 times a week can increase strength by 25–50% within 12–16 weeks, no matter their starting point or menopausal stage.

You’re not “too old” — your body just needs the right kind of training, safely coached and consistently applied.

(Source: Journal of Strength & Conditioning Research, 2022.)

  • Will this help my energy and sleep?

Yes. Strength training improves circulation, stabilises hormones, and reduces cortisol (your stress hormone).

In clinical studies, women who trained three times a week reported better sleep quality and 23% higher daily energy levels within eight weeks.

You’ll feel calmer, sleep deeper, and wake up more refreshed — not more tired.

  • My joints feel stiff — will this make them worse?

Quite the opposite. Controlled, coached strength training reduces joint pain and stiffness by up to 40% in midlife women, according to the Arthritis Foundation.

You’ll move better because we build stability around your joints — no jumping, burpees, or high-impact moves.

  • I’ve lost confidence in my body — will this really help?

Yes. Confidence grows when you feel capable. Women in one 12-week strength programme reported a 35% increase in body confidence — not from weight loss, but from what their bodies could do.

At MetaStrong, you’ll rediscover that feeling — strong, steady, and proud.
